A client needed help with her website

One of my Virtual Assistant clients had a WordPress website, that had been developed and designed by an agency a few years back. She was happy with it overall, but she needed to add new information to her bio and update her fees.

So, she asked if I could do these changes for her.

I had built my own website as well as a landing page with WordPress and found it to be straightforward, so I said YES!

To my client’s delight, I was able to make the updates she wanted on her website. 

I thought: This is fun!

Around the same time, another entrepreneur needed help with her Weebly website

A web-designer friend tagged me in a Facebook group:
Someone was looking for help with updating some content to her website built on Weebly.
I hadn't worked with Weebly before, but I was up for the challenge.

It turns out I seem to have a knack for this:

I easily found my way around Weebly, made the changes, and voilá - another happy client.

Good things come in threes - in my case in form of a Squarespace website

Another business owner was referred to me.
This client needed a bunch of changes on her website that was built with Squarespace.

I dove in and taught myself the features of Squarespace to make the changes the client wanted. 🤓

And that’s it: I was hooked on helping people who need website changes.

I realized that what is fun for me:

Finding my way around the back-end of website builders like Squarespace and Weebly or content management systems like WordPress, is often a pain for others.

Plus, many people simply don’t have the time to learn all that. So, that’s where I come in and change their websites for them.

In March 2001, I moved to NYC.  I fell in love ❤ with this vibrant place and its amazing people right away, and I was determined to make it in the city that never sleeps.

For-profit work

I quickly managed to find an excellent position at the world’s largest fragrance and cosmetic company Coty Inc., where I worked as the internal audit department assistant, and later became the assistant to the chairman of the board.

Non-profit work

From 2004 on, parallel to my assistant role,  I helped set-up, manage and expand the US offices of a worldwide non-profit: Delete Blood Cancer DKMS. I fully switched to the non-profit in Jan 2007.

My own business

After these diverse and remarkable experiences in the corporate and non-profit world, I embarked on a new adventure:

In 2012, following a 25-year career in a variety of positions in international companies in Europe and the US, I started my own business: 

offering reliable Virtual Assistant Services to clients across the globe.

Self-employment is exciting and yes, often challenging! But those challenges help me understand what other business owners are struggling with.  And, I enjoy using my knowledge and experience to help other people, who are also passionate about what they are doing.

When I realized that I have the skill for working on websites, and that business owners often need a few tweaks without wanting to change their whole website, I branched out to offer just that through ASC Website Care. 

Some examples of the variety of hats I have worn throughout my career: 

• Built and made changes to websites on various platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, and others
  
• As virtual assistant, provided administrative services, online business management and operational support to clients worldwide
• Managed the finance & administration for a global non-profit organization; including board of directors communications and meeting preparations, office management, insurance, HR, payroll, legal/regulatory/non-profit and IT matters
  
• Assisted executives; set-up, managed and organized offices, departments, teams, events, moves, data, lists, systems, etc.
  
• Provided customer service; arranged and oversaw international container shipments
  
• Reviewed, set-up and streamlined procedures and policies & and trained co-workers in English and German
  
• Created, edited and translated countless documents varying in form and content in English and German.
